The IWC is coordinated by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wetlands.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Wetlands International<\/em><\/a> and it is organized every year in most countries of the world. <!--more--><span id=\"more-627\"><\/span>In 2016 the period of observations was between 10<sup>th<\/sup> and 30<sup>th<\/sup> of January and the results of waterbird counting had to be provided the IWC until 15<sup>th<\/sup> of February.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_661\" style=\"width: 275px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/arcus.org.rs\/eng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/topolyai-to.Photo_.Sihelnik.J..jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-661\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-661\" title=\"Zobnatica lake (Photo: Sihelnik J\u00f3zsef)\" src=\"http:\/\/arcus.org.rs\/eng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/topolyai-to.Photo_.Sihelnik.J.-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Zobnatica lake\" width=\"265\" height=\"177\" srcset=\"https:\/\/arcus.org.rs\/eng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/topolyai-to.Photo_.Sihelnik.J.-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/arcus.org.rs\/eng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/topolyai-to.Photo_.Sihelnik.J..jpg 840w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 265px) 100vw, 265px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-661\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Zobnatica lake (Photo: Sihelnik J\u00f3zsef)<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ornithologists from Ornithological work group of Arcus Ecological Association participate in national survey since 2012. On 19<sup>th<\/sup> of January 2016 the whole area of the Zobnatica lake was observed, as well as the Krivaja creek completely to \u0110ur\u0111in.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In our observation area the most important waterbird species were the following:\u00a0<strong>Eurasian<span class=\"fontstyle0\"> Coot<\/span><\/strong> (<i>Fulica atra<\/i>) 393,\u00a0<strong>Mallard<\/strong> (<i>Anas platyrhynchos<\/i>) 312,\u00a0<strong><span class=\"fontstyle0\">Common<\/span><\/strong> <strong>Reed Bunting<\/strong> (<i>Emberiza schoeniclus<\/i>) 43,\u00a0<strong>Mute Swan<\/strong> (<i>Cygnus olor<\/i>) 11,\u00a0<strong>Eurasian<\/strong> <strong><span class=\"fontstyle0\">Penduline Tit<\/span><\/strong> (<i>Remiz pendulinus<\/i>) 11,\u00a0<strong>Little Grebe<\/strong> (<em>Tachybaptus ruficollis<\/em>) 5,\u00a0<strong><span class=\"fontstyle0\">Common<\/span><\/strong> <strong>Moorhen<\/strong> (<em>Gallinula chloropus<\/em>) 3,\u00a0<strong>Great Cormorant<\/strong> (<em>Phalacrocorax carbo<\/em>) 3,\u00a0<strong>Greater <span class=\"fontstyle0\">White-fronted Goose<\/span><\/strong> (<em>Anser albifrons<\/em>) 2,\u00a0<strong>Common Kingfisher<\/strong> (<em>Alcedo atthis<\/em>) 1,\u00a0<strong>Grey Heron<\/strong> (<i>Ardea cinerea<\/i>) 1, <strong>Common<\/strong> <strong>Goldeneye<\/strong> (<i>Bucephala clangula<\/i>) 1,\u00a0<strong><span class=\"fontstyle0\">Western Marsh Harrier<\/span><\/strong> (<em>Circus aeruginosus<\/em>) 1,\u00a0<strong>Hen Harrier<\/strong> (<em>Circus cyaneus<\/em>) 1,\u00a0<strong>Great Crested Grebe<\/strong> (<em>Podiceps cristatus<\/em>) 1 and\u00a0<strong>Water Rail<\/strong> (<em>Rallus aquaticus<\/em>) 1.
