This event saw 2,2 million homes and businesses turn their lights off for one hour to make their stand against climate change that year. Since then it has grown to engage more than 7000 cities and towns worldwide, and the one hour event continues to remain the key driver of the now larger movement. Landmarks all around the world turned off their non essential lighting for Earth Hour, including the Sydney Opera House (Sydney, Australia), Empire State Building (New York City, USA), Sears Tower (now Willis Tower, Chicago, USA), Golden Gate Bridge (San Francisco, USA), the Colosseum (Rome, Italy), Royal Castle (Stockholm, Sweden), Petronas Towers (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia), KL Tower (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia), Wat Arun Temple (Bangkok, Thailand), The London City Hall (London, England) and the Royal Liver Building (Liverpool, United Kingdom).<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe class='youtube-player' type='text\/html' width='700' height='394' src='https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/UZYiJLH2toY?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;fs=1&#038;autohide=2&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;wmode=transparent' allowfullscreen='true' style='border:0;'><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The standard Earth Hour \u201e60\u201d logo represents the 60 minutes of Earth Hour where we focus on the impact we are having on our planet and take positive action to address the environmental issues we face.
