The IWC is coordinated by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wetlands.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Wetlands International<\/em><\/a> and it is organized every year in most countries of the world. <!--more--><span id=\"more-834\"><\/span><span id=\"more-809\"><\/span><span id=\"more-779\"><\/span><span id=\"more-751\"><\/span><span id=\"more-705\"><\/span><span id=\"more-623\"><\/span>In 2022 the period of observations was between 10<sup>th<\/sup> and 30<sup>th<\/sup> of January and the results of waterbird counting had to be provided the IWC until 10<sup>th<\/sup> of February.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_661\" style=\"width: 275px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/arcus.org.rs\/eng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/topolyai-to.Photo_.Sihelnik.J..jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-661\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-661\" title=\"Zobnatica lake (Photo: Sihelnik J\u00f3zsef)\" src=\"https:\/\/arcus.org.rs\/eng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/topolyai-to.Photo_.Sihelnik.J.-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Zobnatica lake (Photo: Sihelnik J\u00f3zsef)\" width=\"265\" height=\"177\" srcset=\"https:\/\/arcus.org.rs\/eng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/topolyai-to.Photo_.Sihelnik.J.-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/arcus.org.rs\/eng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/topolyai-to.Photo_.Sihelnik.J..jpg 840w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 265px) 100vw, 265px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-661\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Zobnatica lake (Photo: Sihelnik J\u00f3zsef)<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ornithologists from Ornithological work group of Arcus Ecological Association participate in national survey since 2012. This year, the activities took part from 16<sup>th<\/sup> till 22<sup>nd<\/sup> January. The whole area of the Zobnatica lake was observed, as well as the Krivaja creek completely to \u0110ur\u0111in. Also, the Krivaja creek was observed from Ba\u010dka Topola to Baj\u0161a and on to Lov\u0107enac in Municipality of Mali I\u0111o\u0161.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In our observation area the most important waterbird species were the following:\u00a0<strong>Mallard<\/strong> (<i>Anas platyrhynchos<\/i>) 740, <strong>Greater <span class=\"fontstyle0\">White-fronted Goose <\/span><\/strong>(<em>Anser albifrons<\/em>) 511, <strong><span class=\"fontstyle0\">Common<\/span><\/strong> <strong>Reed Bunting<\/strong> (<i>Emberiza schoeniclus<\/i>) 115, <strong><span class=\"fontstyle0\">Common Crane <\/span><\/strong>(<i>Grus grus<\/i>) 113,\u00a0<strong>Mute Swan<\/strong> (<i>Cygnus olor<\/i>) 65, <strong>Eurasian<span class=\"fontstyle0\"> Coot<\/span><\/strong> (<em>Fulica atra<\/em>) 55, <strong><span class=\"fontstyle0\">Greylag Goose <\/span><\/strong>(<i>Anser anser<\/i>) 47,\u00a0<strong><span class=\"fontstyle0\">Eurasian Teal <\/span><\/strong>(<i>Anas crecca<\/i>) 37, <strong><span class=\"fontstyle0\">Common<\/span><\/strong> <strong>Moorhen<\/strong> (<em>Gallinula chloropus<\/em>) 25,\u00a0<strong>Muscovy Duck<\/strong> (<em><span class=\"Eq0J8 LrzXr kno-fv\">Cairina moschata<\/span><\/em>) 18, <span class=\"aCOpRe\"><strong><span class=\"fontstyle0\">Great Cormorant <\/span><\/strong>(<em>Phalacrocorax carbo<\/em>)<\/span> 18, <strong>Eurasian<\/strong> <strong><span class=\"fontstyle0\">Wigeon <\/span><\/strong>(<em>Anas penelope<\/em>) 12,\u00a0<strong>Grey Heron<\/strong> (<i>Ardea cinerea<\/i>) 9, <strong>Eurasian<\/strong> <strong><span class=\"fontstyle0\">Penduline Tit <\/span><\/strong>(<i>Remiz pendulinus<\/i>) 7,\u00a0<strong><span class=\"fontstyle0\">Hen Harrier <\/span><\/strong>(<i>Circus cyaneus<\/i>) 6,\u00a0<strong><span class=\"fontstyle0\">Bearded Reedling <\/span><\/strong>(<i>Panurus biarmicus<\/i>) 6, <strong><span class=\"fontstyle0\">Grey Wagtail <\/span><\/strong>(<i>Motacilla cinerea<\/i>) 5,<strong> Mandarin Duck<\/strong> (<em>Aix galericulata<\/em>) 3, <strong><span class=\"fontstyle0\">Water Pipit <\/span><\/strong>(<em>Anthus spinoletta<\/em>) 2, <strong><span class=\"fontstyle0\">White Wagtail <\/span><\/strong>(<em>Motacilla alba<\/em>) 2, <strong><span class=\"fontstyle0\">Water Rail <\/span><\/strong>(<em>Rallus aquaticus<\/em>) 2, <strong><span class=\"fontstyle0\">Eurasian Woodcock <\/span><\/strong>(<em>Scolopax rusticola<\/em>) 2, <strong><span class=\"fontstyle0\">Northern Pintail <\/span><\/strong>(<em>Anas acuta<\/em>) 1,\u00a0<strong><span class=\"fontstyle0\">Western Marsh Harrier <\/span><\/strong>(<em>Circus aeruginosus<\/em>) 1,\u00a0<strong><span class=\"fontstyle0\">Great Egret <\/span><\/strong>(<em>Egretta alba<\/em>) 1,\u00a0<span class=\"aCOpRe\"><strong>White-Tailed Eagle<\/strong> (<em>Haliaeetus albicilla<\/em>)<\/span> 1 and <strong><span class=\"fontstyle0\">Green Sandpiper <\/span><\/strong>(<em><span class=\"aCOpRe\">Tringa ochropus<\/span><\/em>) 1.
