In the past few years, Arcus Ecological Association from Ba\u010dka Topola organized art contest for primary school students on the occasion of the Earth Day. The contest is aimed at promoting the nature protection, the knowledge about the living beings that surround us, about their habitat, ecology and importance. That is why the contest is addressed to young population, especially the primary school students<\/strong>. In the previous years there were a lot of participants from our country, but from abroad as well, and that is how the contest became international. Again, in 2024 we expect participants from all over Serbia and from abroad, too.<\/p>\n

\"Crocus<\/a>

Theme of 2024 contest is Crocus reticulatus<\/em><\/strong> and its habitat<\/strong>. Crocus reticulatus<\/em> is a species of bulbous perennial flowering plant native in Central, Southern and Eastern Europe. Its habitat is found mostly in the remains of ancient steppe, especially in loess and sandy soils, and is considered as very endangered habitat due to invasive shrubs and anthropogenic factors. Crocus reticulatus<\/em> is also found in dry oak woods and plantations of false acacia. Population of Crocus reticulatus<\/em> is still relatively big, but its survival depends on the conservation of its habitat. Crocus reticulatus<\/em> is early Spring blooming wild flower and the flowering occurs right after snow melting, from middle February till middle or the end of March. It is a small plant, 4-10 cm high. It has a long, narrow, sword-like green leaves with a white central stripe. The flower is single, cup-shaped, composed mostly of six petals (there can be more than six petals). The colour of flowers can vary from white to violet. Petals in the outer circle have three dark purple central stripes. Pistil can vary in colour from yellow to red.<\/p>\n

Contest details<\/strong><\/p>\n

Contest type: art – drawing, watercolour, collage, and similar techniques<\/em><\/p>\n

Categories:<\/p>\n

– primary school students 1st<\/sup> – 2nd<\/sup> grade (7 – 8 y. o.)<\/p>\n

– primary school students 3rd<\/sup> – 4th<\/sup> grade (9 – 10 y. o.)<\/p>\n

– primary school students 5th<\/sup> – 8th<\/sup> grade (11 \u2013 14 y. o.)<\/p>\n

Artworks can be created in any technique and size that is suitable for the age of participant. We expect works that show Crocus reticulatus<\/em> and its habitat.<\/p>\n

Participants can create and prepare their works on art classes in school or independently from educational institution.<\/p>\n

Participation method and deadline<\/strong><\/p>\n

Each participant can submit only one work. It is obligatory to write down on the back of the work the following information:<\/p>\n

– title of the work<\/p>\n

– name of the author<\/p>\n

– author\u2019s age and school grade<\/p>\n

– contact information of the author or their parent\/guardian (phone number and e-mail obligatory)<\/p>\n

– art teacher\u2019s name (if helped with work preparation)<\/p>\n

– name of the school that is author attending<\/p>\n

Contest participants can submit their application by sending their works by post at the following address: Arcus Ecological Association, 24300 Ba\u010dka Topola, \u0160kolska 2, Serbia (Ekolo\u0161ko dru\u0161tvo \u201cArkus\u201d, 24300 Ba\u010dka Topola, \u0160kolska 2, Srbija).<\/p>\n

Deadline for sending the works is 1st<\/sup> April 2024 <\/strong>(Monday).<\/p>\n

There is no participation fee. The works can\u2019t be returned to the authors.<\/p>\n

Privacy policy<\/strong><\/p>\n

By registering participants agree to be bound by this agreement and accept all its parts.\u00a0Artists authorize Arcus Ecological Association to process artist’s personal data in accordance with law.\u00a0Personal data and submitted works will be used in accordance to the purpose of the contest.<\/p>\n

Selection, awards and collective exhibition<\/strong><\/p>\n

In each category will be selected three best works by jury composed of Arcus Ecological Association\u2019s members. If there will be any work that stands out, the jury can award special prize. Jury will not take into consideration the works with incomplete information about the work and its author, and the works which will be sent after the deadline. The awards are books suitable for the age of the authors.<\/p>\n

All submitted artworks will be exhibited in the Exhibition Hall of Ba\u010dka Topola Municipality Culture Centre. Exhibition opening and award ceremony will be held on 22nd<\/sup> April 2024 <\/strong>(Monday) at 18:00<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The exhibition will be open to the public from 22nd<\/sup> to 26th<\/sup> April 2024<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

We are expecting very creative artworks.<\/p>\n
