{"id":997,"date":"2025-01-21T15:24:47","date_gmt":"2025-01-21T14:24:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arcus.org.rs\/eng\/?p=997"},"modified":"2026-01-20T20:05:46","modified_gmt":"2026-01-20T19:05:46","slug":"eagle-census-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arcus.org.rs\/eng\/eagle-census-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Eagle Census 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Since 2004, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mme.hu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>BirdLife Hungary<\/em><\/a> (MME) has been organizing the National Eagle Census in collaboration with national park directorates and other nature conservation NGOs, in order to monitor the wintering population of birds of prey species in Hungary. <!--more--><span id=\"more-970\"><\/span><span id=\"more-897\"><\/span>Besides eagles, all raptor bird species as well as great bustards are taken into account. In the scope of the PannonEagle LIFE project, funded by the European Union, colleagues from the surrounding countries have been also participating in the census since 2018. This year, the Eagle Census took part in the most important wintering locations of birds of prey in the whole Carpathian basin (Pannon region).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ornithologists from Arcus Ecological Association joined the Eagle Census in 2022. This year, the activities took part from 17<sup>th<\/sup> till 18<sup>th<\/sup> January. The area northern from Ba\u010dka Topola was observed, which includes the Lake Zobnatica (also known as the Lake Ba\u010dka Topola) and the part of the Krivaja creek till \u0110ur\u0111in and Stari \u017dednik.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the mentioned region, important for the Eagle Census the next species were observed:\u00a0<strong>Common Buzzard<\/strong> (<em>Buteo buteo<\/em>) 33 individuals, <strong>Common Kestrel<\/strong> (<em>Falco tinnunculus<\/em>) 10 individuals, <strong>Hen Harrier<\/strong> (<em>Circus cyaneus<\/em>) 6 individuals, <strong>Eurasian Sparrowhawk<\/strong> (<em>Accipiter nisus<\/em>) 5 individuals and <strong>Saker Falcon<\/strong> (<em>Falco cherrug<\/em>) 3 individuals.
